How do I install the software.?
Tube 2 comes in 2 parts the (free) Tube 2 engine and the Tube 2 map package,
please ensure you have downloaded both packs (zip files).
The zip file that you downloaded should first be unzipped
(uncompressed) on your desktop PC by using an unzipping program such
as Winzip.
If you do not have winzip it can be downloaded from here:- http://www.winzip.com
Unzipping the file will give you a Tube2.prc file and several pdb
files. Click on the Tube2.prc and ALL of the pdb files in turn
to add them to your Palm install tool. If you wish to install the
maps to a storage card or memory stick click on the change
destination button and move the pdb files over. For best performance
leave the Tube2.prc file in main memory. Place your Palm device in
its cradle and hotsysnc to install across. If you have any problems
using the application check your hotsync log to ensure no errors
were reported during the install. Further instructions can be found in the
help file which will also
be extracted from the zip file.

I am having problems installing to a Tungsten T5 or Treo 650.
There have been some problems with the Palm Treo 650 and Tungsten
T5, these devices use a new non-volatile file system (NVFS), which
ensures that data will not be
erased when battery power runs out. This new data storage method
saves information in larger blocks, consuming more memory than in
previous devices, also Palm OS
applications with large data files can have HotSync problems on
these devices.
These issues can result in problematic installs, either memory
capacity related or a failure to install some files.
If you have one of these devices we recommend you install the latest
patch / ROM release from PalmOne which resolves many problems on
these devices, details below:

How do I
access the menus in Tube 2?
To access the quick access menu just tap the stylus down on a
station on the map and a popup menu will give you various
options for that station such as route planning. The other menu
items can be accessed by tapping the 'Menu' icon.
-
I cannot scroll the map using
the stylus.
If you have Jot 2.0 installed on your device you will need to
upgrade to Jot 2.1 as there is a conflict with V2.0 this application
blocking stylus movements. We have also now had some reports that
Palm's Keyboard Driver for Tungsten (Beta) can also cause this
problem.

My Tungsten T3 does not display Tube maps in
320x480.
To use the Tungsten T3 full 320x480 screen with
our Tube 2 application, you may need to download and install these two
Palm system updates:
AppSlipRotate.prc
StatusBarLib.prc
The reason:
The Palm Tungsten T3 has a retractable "virtual" graffiti area that
allows applications to use the full 320x480 pixel screen. The Palm
OS standard for accessing this area was still being defined when the
T3 first shipped, so Palm included non-standard support for this
feature. A Tungsten T3 right out of the box doesn't have full,
standard support for the retractable graffiti area.
It is possible that future Tungsten T3 devices will ship with these
updated files already installed, if Tube is already working OK (in
other words, you can minimize the graffiti area and view full-screen
maps), then you don't need to install these files. Also if you have
already installed these two files to get some other software to work
correctly on your T3, do not re-install them again.
Click
here to download the update from our web site.
Download and HotSync these two .prc files to your T3. After the
HotSync, your T3 will tell you to reset, this should not cause any
data loss.
