iPhone / iPod Touch Support FAQ

How do I Zoom in/out in Tube or A-Z maps?
The map has a simple double tap zoom in / out, its been reported that many people find the iPhone finger pinch and expand too fiddly.

What is the difference between Tube London & Tube London City?
The main difference is the Tube London map geographically accurately plots the central London underground stations overlaid onto a basic informative street map. This enables you to see where the tube lines actually run & where the stations are in relation to you, you can then easily see if you can walk rather than take the tube.
Tube 2 London City has a tube map identical to the official TFL map, full details and demonstration movies of the 2 applications can be found on our web site.

When will you be releasing other cities on Tube?
Many of the popular cities are being worked on now. We will be developing them in order of customer demand so if you have a city you would like see made available register your interest with sales@visualit.co.uk and we will let you know when its released.

Existing Customer Discounts.
The Apple iTunes store doesn't have the facility to allow us to discount software and as we can only distribute iPhone/iPod touch software via this store this is creating some dissatisfaction.
We would like to offer discounts for loyal customers and add other promotions eg buy 3 for 2 etc, all these requests have been passed to Apple so lets hope they can do something in the near future.

I am getting an error message, Not authorized for my applications on iphone.
This seems to be a common problem after updating iTunes or your iPhone software, there are lots of threads in Apple support for this.
Try going into iTunes and click Store | Authorize computer.

I am getting an error message on my iPhone "Memory is running low".
The iPhone OS does suffer from fragmented memory. If you are getting this message whilst using Tube (which does require a fair bit of RAM) just power off the phone completely (hold power button until the slider appears) and power back on and it should be OK.
We are hoping these problems will be addressed by Apple in their later iPhone OS releases.

Tube doesn't start when I tap the icon or crashes on start up
1) First try a reset of your iPhone, powering off/on (a full power off, where you hold the power off button until you get the “Slide to power off” message).
Then after the reset re-try starting Tube.

2) If you still have problems try deleting the app from your iPhone and re-installing.
With your iPhone connected to your PC/Mac, go to iTunes & un-tick the box next to the app name in Devices ~ Applications.
Ensure the Tube icon has now been removed from the iPhone, then restore the application back onto the phone by returning to the iTunes screen and ticking the box next to the app name.

3) If the application now starts OK ensure you plan a couple of journeys setting both a start and end point, and running the animation. Then quit the application and see if then restarts OK.

4) If you haven't yet upgraded your iPhone / iPod Touch to the latest software release we recommend you do so as Apple have resolved many of these issues in this new release.

I have trouble getting a GPS Fix in Tube or A-Z maps.
Several common reasons for not getting a GPS fix:
Indoors: GPS signals are often very weak inside buildings.
Outdoors: Check the sky is not obstructed by large buildings etc, GPS receivers work best when you they a clear view of the sky.
Occasionally, locating your position can take a minute or two even when you are outside, please wait a little longer and re-try.

Some of the other web based maps serve up an old GPS fix if they are unable to get a current location so be careful if you think you are getting a fix from these apps but not ours.
We are always looking at ways to improve the reliability of fixes we get from the iPhones GPS hardware, if we can these will be released in an update.
